Diary of a 6-Day Hawaiian Vacation
Day 3 & 4: Saturday and Sunday
On
this trip I decided to dedicate the weekend to hanging out at
the beach and hotel pool for two reasons. The first was to lounge
out and burn off the
stresses from mainland life and the second was to avoid the larger
crowds I anticipated at tourist attractions.
So, I rented a boogie board and fins for about $10/day and headed
out to Waikiki Beach. There was only about one other body boarder
in the water with me amongst about 100 surfers. It was kind of
crowded out there and I didn't catch many waves, but as cheesy
as this sounds, it was just fun being out there in the water looking
back at the Waikiki hotel skyline with Diamond Head to the south
and basking in the sun like a Honu Turtle.
I'm not big on flying to beach destinations thousands of miles
so I can sit on my backside slamming alcohol but, a Hawaii trip
wouldn't be complete without a cocktail with an mini-umbrella
in it, so I had knock down a Mai Tai by the pool. I held it to
one because nothing wears a person down faster then drinking alcohol
in the sun, despite how appealing those Corona commercials make
it to look. I can live with a sunburn but a hangover on top of
it would suck, unless I'm in Sheboygan or something...see day
