The Never-Ending Quest for Airline Ticket Deals

Many people are obsessed with the financial markets. They frequently visit market and business related sites to check news and share prices.

They discuss the financial markets with friends, think about it in traffic, listen to radio and watch television program about it. They read the business section at breakfast and fall asleep to a finance magazine at night. They sleep eat and breathe it.

There are still others who are consumed by housing prices or something less paramount like gas prices or the price of some retail item at their local mall. Most everybody has something trivial that consumes them in some way.

My obsession is with airline ticket prices. I compulsively check the industry news, deals and prices for different routes. What can I say...anyways...here's a short list of my favorite, and in my opinion the best of the best, sites to check for airfare deals...

Kayak: Fare Buzz

I highly recommend playing around the "Fare Buzz" on this site. I run searches on it several times a week. Deals I've found include; LAX to Dublin for under $400 r/t, LAX to Tokyo for around $550 r/t and LAX to Australia for under $850 r/t. This tool produces some pretty amazing stuff. (Twice every week)

TravelZoo: Top 20

They're weekly "Top 20" has been one of the best places to find airfares deals for the last two to three years. It's something I check every Wednesday when the deals are refreshed. (Every Wednesday)

Shermans Travel: Air Deals

This site has a large quantity of airfare deals. Sometimes you can sift through them and find something good. (Every Wednesday)

SmarterTravel.com: Airfare

Occasionally has good airfare deals. However, it always has good travel advice and information. A good place to get caught up with travel news. (Every other week)

Southwest.com: Ding Fares!

The good thing about this feature is that it checks you. It reminds you every time there's a deal to/from your pre-selected airport(s). The deals are time-sensitive, usually expiring the afternoon they're released. Deals I've seen include LAX to PHX (Phoenix) for $29 o/w and LAX to MDW (Chicago) for $83 o/w. (Every day)
