Madrid-based Iberia Airlines, which is poised to merge with British Airways in 2010, has fares to a host of Spanish cities for under $600, including New York to Barcelona starting at $480 (after taxes and fees).

This is notable, because transatlantic flights for below $500 have been few and far between when compared to 2008 and 2009.

Since this is an unadvertised fare, we have no idea how long these fares will last.

Mexicana is having a flight sale to Guadalajara from Los Angeles and the Bay Area for as low as $112 (before taxes). Book and travel by January 31.

However, we’re seeing good unadvertised fares with Mexicana, including New York to Guatemala City (see below) for only $254 (after taxes).

Surprisingly, this rate is valid deep into 2010. Since, this is unadvertised, prices could jump at any moment, so act fast.

Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways is offering deals to Asia from San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. Destination cities on sale include Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei and Delhi. Read more.

New York to Hong Kong must be purchased by December 31 for travel from January 11 through February 28. The sale fares start at $815. Read offer.

However, we found substantially lower rates when conducting itinerary searches for March and April, which is after the sale ends.

So, even better, it appears that travel from JFK to HKG for the next 4 1/2 months is deeply discounted!

One reason we like this latest Virgin America sale is because the travel window is so big (12/3/09 – 5/23/09) with only eight blackout dates (12/18, 12/19, 12/26, 12/27, 1/1, 1/3, 2/12, 2/15).

As you see, not all of the dates in and around Christmas and New Years are completely blacked out, so holiday travelers can take advantage. This is a rare occurrence as airlines usually black out all of the dates in late December.

Also, this Cyber Monday Sale doesn’t end until December 8th, so you have ample time to make your purchase.

Virgin America charges $20 for each checked bag, but Wi-Fi is free on all flights until 1/15 to provide consolation.

Despite recently increased airfares to world destinations such as Honolulu and Manila, prices to many cities in India have remained in the $700′s for most of November. See our November 4th blog.

Today, we’re seeing affordable New York to Mumbai fares through early March on Kuwait Airways booked through Orbitz (see below). This same itinerary is over $1,000 on the Kuwait Airways site.

This is an unadvertised fare so don’t expect India to be this affordable indefinitely. Please use our searchbox at right to find your cheap airfare to India.

Russia-based Aeroflot Airlines is having a “Global Sale” from its Moscow hub to many destinations. However, their most notable deal, which isn’t even listed on their “Hit Tariff” list, is to Cairo.

We just found New York (JFK) to Cairo (CAI) for $527 round/trip (see below). From Los Angeles (LAX) you’re looking at $623. Both of these fares are after taxes/fees. This is pretty amazingly low for US to Africa travel.

It’s almost comical that the airfare on the LAX-CAI itinerary is only $160. The other $367 is going to taxes. So, Aeroflot is pretty much giving away these seats. These probably won’t last the night.

Tickets must be booked on Aeroflot’s site. On Orbitz you’ll pay about $100 more for these particular flights. Good luck.

We’re seeing New York to Lima fares in the $260 range for travel during May and June 2010 on LAN Airlines. This is a round-trip price after taxes! This is an obscenely low price for a flight of that distance (3,600 miles).

This fare is available only on Orbitz. This same itinerary on LAN‘s website is about twice as much.

This is the cheapest way to access South America from the States. From Lima you can hop to additional popular cities on LAN, including Santiago, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.

Or, just fly locally and visit Cusco and Machu Picchu.

Delta Airlines is offering round-trip fares from New York to Taipei for as low as $697 after taxes. This is a non-promotional fare that can’t even be booked on Delta’s website. And, they’d want close to $900 for this itinerary. We found the $697 fare (see below) through Orbitz. It was also on CheapTickets.

However, Delta has announced a New York to Europe sale, with fares as low as $239 (one-way, before taxes) to Barcelona. See complete list.

We’re seeing a plethora of rates from New York to India for under $800 this winter.  Both Air India and Kuwait Airways are offering up these low rates.
