Fly New York to “Publin” for only $468 in early October before the weather gets too chilly. This fare is available on Delta for travel through March, at which point it then spirals into the $700s.

These prices beat the Aer Lingus $199 sale which is actually $575 after round-trip and taxes.

Find the $468 fare on Delta.com for travel from October through March.

In Dublin, make sure to visit O’Donoghues on Merrion Row and take in some live Irish music (pictured above)! These guys even let my buddy Boram sit in on guitar for “Dicey Riley”.

Search Delta or use our search at right.

Finding sub-$500 fares to Europe is much more difficult than last year. In early 2009 we frequently saw flights in the $300s and $400s to Europe…even from the West Coast.

When I saw Las Vegas to Barcelona from $219 on June 9th, I knew they couldn’t get any lower. There was just no way. That was the bottom.

And, they definitely have increased since. However, Aer Lingus is currently having a “wee little” sale to remind us of 2009.

Discount rates from Chicago (see below), Boston and New York are available to several European cities, including Dublin, London and Paris for under $500. Travel must be purchased by January 13th for travel between January 18th and February 10th.

Search for your fare on Aer Lingus and remember to check the “Flexible Date” bubble.

Over the last several years Dublin has been beating out London as the cheapest place in Europe to fly to from the US. The most obvious reason is its closer proximity to the states. An additional reason is the stiff competition between Aer Lingus, American Airlines and US Air for customers on this route.

We found this particular deal on the Continental.com with one stop each way. Cheaper fares can be found from the east coast. We’ve seen as low as $308 from JFK on Delta. These sub $400 fares are only available for travel through early April at which point they balloon up to $700+.
