If you are flexible with your travel, you can find fares to many Asian cities from Los Angeles, San Francisco or Seattle in the $600′s for travel this winter.

Cities we continually see in the $600′s include Tokyo, Taiwan, Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and Manila. Historically, the routes were priced near or above the $1,000 plateau.

Case in point (below) is Los Angeles to Phnom Penh for $632 in March/April with China Airlines. We found this on Orbitz. It was significantly higher on the China Airlines website.

China Airlines has a San Francisco to Asia sale running through March 31, 2009 for travel from now through May 20, 2009. Our test itinerary for San Francisco to Hong Kong (below) resulted in a $699.20 tab for travel from April 14 – April 23. The $699.20 includes taxes. There is one stopover at their Taiwan hub.
