$580: Seattle to London

Thinking about flying to Europe this year? Well, here’s the skinny. Uber low fares from the West Coast to Europe are definitely harder to land this year compared to 2009. Last year, you could blindly pin the tail on any European city and subsequently fly there for under $700. However, this year you need more selectivity…and creativity.
For example, I just found a Seattle to London fare on Delta for March travel for $580. Basically, any itinerary for under $600 from the west coast to Europe needs to be snatched up. This flight goes into London’s Gatwick Airport, which is beneficial, because they have a solid list of discount carriers, including Aer Lingus, EastJet and RyanAir, operating there.
Book your inter-Europe flights on one of the aforementioned carriers. If you’re hesitant about booking your trip on separate carriers, read this.

I am desperately trying to find flights below $1000 so I can get my family of 4 to Germany from SEA this summer – and of course it would have to be during summer vacaction because my granddaughters are in school. If anyone has any ideas, I appreciate and check out anything. Thanks. Oh by the way, with all this vulcano chaos going in Europe, could that mean that the tickets could run even more expensive than they are now – or would there be a chance that the prices drop? (wishful thinking I know) Thanks

Hello Ruth,
Hopefully, I can help you find something that’s fits your parameters.
Just an idea, you could fly SEA to Dublin in last August for about $850. And, then book a separate itinerary on RyanAir.com from Dublin to Frankfurt for about $100. So, the total cost would be around $950 each r/t.
However, if you wanted to stay 14 days, you’d need to stretch your trip into early September, which may not work for your granddaughters.
For example, you could fly SEA to DUB, and then DUB to FRA on August 23rd and return on Sept 6th for around $950 total. Just an idea.
I will continue checking prices for you.
Kind Regards,
Isaac
