Based in Singapore, Tiger operates A320s to 30+ destinations throughout Asia and Australasia. Most are a traveller’s dream, ranging from Gold Coast surfing, through Langkawi’s resorts, all the way to Ho Chi Minh City’s culture.

So, why the poem? When it works, it really works. Tickets can be fantastic value, aircrews are friendly, and Tiger’s new planes fly point-to-point with no fuss.

Tiger’s low-cost model mimics Ryanair, with everything bad that entails. Electronic payment incurs US$3 per sector, extra legroom seats US$15, weight-dependent checked baggage US$8-US$45 (with strictly enforced US$10 per kilo excess), and absolutely no refunds.

‘Horrid’ surfaces when things go wrong. Involuntary flight changes seem commonplace, people have been left stranded with no alternatives offered, and customer service is unreachable. Basically, if you absolutely, positively have to be somewhere on time, fly scheduled! Search!
