With the Elburz Mountains in the background, Tehran, in the north of Iran, is the country’s capital city.
Golestan Palace was the residence of the Iranian royal family from the eighteenth century until the monarchy was overthrown in 1979. The palatial complex includes the tall Edifice of the Sun towers, the mirrored Hall of Brilliance, terraces with thrones, and peaceful fountains.
The Glassware and Ceramic Museum traces the history of glassware and ceramics from clay pots used in the fourth millennium BC to contemporary pieces. Rare and unusual pieces are on display.
Visit the Carpet Museum of Iran, in a building that resembles a loom, to admire intricately woven Persian carpets that have been made in Iran for thousands of years. Go!
