Bulgaria’s capital city is located in the Sofia Valley, at the foot of the Lyulin and Vitosha mountains. If you’re in Sofia, you can’t miss exploring these mountains and perhaps trying a spot of skiing if the weather permits.

Sofia has many fabulous old churches, including the oldest in the city, and the UNESCO World Heritage recognized, St George Rotunda. The Boyana Church is also on the UNESCO list and has fantastic examples of medieval art.
