Shannon Overview

One of Ireland’s newest towns, Shannon was created in the 1960s to help develop the regional economy.

It’s located on the river Shannon and home to the Shannon International Airport and a range of other key businesses. The town has a lovely sense of community and, if you enjoy a spot of retail therapy, the centre has a good selection of shops. There are also plenty of pubs and restaurants for dining out.

On Friday’s look out for the Farmers Market held in the town square. A short drive away you’ll find the Ennis and Clare Lakes and Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Go!
