By Rachel Newcombe: Short for Newcastle upon Tyne, this city in the north-east of England is situated on the banks of the River Tyne. It’s steeped in history – the Roman’s built the first bridge over the river Tyne and it was a thriving base in medieval times – and you can still see the Roman relics throughout the area today.
No visit is complete without a walk along Hadrian’s Wall and you must sample the famous Newcastle Brown Ale. The city boasts an array of shops, restaurants and bars, and the Jesmond Dean Park is a haven for nature in the centre of it all. Go! |
