The Plaza de Armas is the historic heart of the city. From there one can see the main cathedral and the Government Palace, built in 1938. The Museum of Anthropology, Archeology, and History in the Plaza Bolivar of the Pueblo Libre district is one of the most unusual collections of artifacts, such as pottery and cloth, in all of South America. Also in the Pueblo Libre district is the Larco Museum, a collection of pre-Columbian art.

No trip to Peru would be complete without a visit to Machu Picchu. Located in the Urubamba province, on the eastern slopes of the Vilcanota mountain range, these ancient Incan ruins were constructed from before 1300 A.D. up to 1572 A.D. Many people journey to Machu Picchu because of the nearby underground hot sulfur springs, which can reach temperatures up to 114° Fahrenheit, and provide healing benefits. Go!
