By Roz Andrews

In Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, Hindu and Buddhist temples abound, particularly around Durbar Square (Hanumandhoka).

Visit the Natural History Museum to find out more about the astonishing bio-diversity of Nepal, which is home to a wide range of plants and animals that flourish in its many climactic zones, ranging from arctic to sub-tropical over a distance of less than 100 miles.

At the Cow Festival (Gai Jatra), held every August, parades of teenage boys dressed up as cows are said to help the dead on their journey to heaven. Go!
