Jet Blue calls the newly renovated Terminal 5 at JFK home. Flights leave for 60 popular U.S. and Caribbean destinations. Non-stop service between non-JFK cities (Boston-San Francisco, Los Angeles-Boston and Fort Lauderdale-Cancun for example) starts this year.

Jet Blue's website features an entire page devoted to traveling with your pet. The company also puts a huge emphasis on “Green.” Passengers can buy carbon offsets through a partner organization. Jet Blue reduces its carbon footprint with energy-efficient aircraft operations like single-engine taxi and winglets to reduce fuel consumption. On board waste reduction means no disposable headsets (bring your own) and no in-flight magazine. At the airport, Jet Blue recycles aircraft fuel and oil filters, uses advanced technology to minimize the use of chemical deice fluid, and eliminates paper tickets.

Jet Blue offers a low-cost experience without eliminating all the frills. In-flight food and drink are still complimentary, as is basic entertainment (some channels are available only for a fee). Standard seats offer ample leg room even for fairly tall people and roomier seats are available for an extra charge. The company prides itself on excellent service and cleanliness. Like just about every airline these days, however, Jet Blue imposes fees for advance seat selection and a second checked bag. Search!
