Known as the Pearl of the Orient, Goa is situated on the western coast of India within the coastal belt called Konkan. Museum enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to Garbagriha, which hosts a big hall with walls that are covered with religious motifs and pillars.

Travellers come from all around the globe to see churches such as Basilica of Bom Jesus, and old houses such as Morden House.

Food lovers will enjoy lunch at Martin’s Corner where they can try authentic local cuisine. If you’re looking to relax on the beach, head to Utorda where the beach is lined with palm trees, and has shiny sand that slopes into the sea. Go!

Get room with Goan locals cheaper
When I left some friends home in Calangute, a local man walking in my direction, stopped me to ask if I needed a room for about 50 cents a day during the Monsoon summer rain of 1982. So I said, Yes! It was a front room with a covered bungalow style porch facing the street, a kitchen with the smoke rising thru the open ceiling tile covered roof, an outhouse, two Iranian exiles in the room next door, and the Arabian Sea and beach just a few hundred yards away. Of course, the Winter rentals are probably much higher, but the local home owners could probably still save you a lot. After your first night, just go out walking in Goa and someone might offer to rent you a room in their home. Comparing those prices here won-t work.
