If you have never eaten at “Griswald’s Gourmet Café”, chances are you have yet to experience Frontier Airlines. The funky discount carrier operates out of Denver and markets itself as a “whole different animal”. Each tail of its all Airbus fleet proudly displays one of the company’s spokesanimals. In addition to Griswald the bear, there is Larry the lynx and Joe, Jim, Jay and Gary, the penguins, to name a few.

Founded in 1994 by a group of veteran airline people, the carrier’s operating principles of being affordable, flexible, accommodating and comfortable have earned it some prestigious recognition. Condé Nast Travelers magazine rated it as one of the top 10 domestic airlines in 2008 and the FAA recognized its maintenance procedures with a Diamond Award.

Its route structure ranges from Anchorage in the north to Fort Lauderdale in the south and from New York in the east to Los Angeles in the west. Its international routes include Mexico and Costa Rica.

On board, the carrier offers one class of service and an entertainment system that features Direct TV, Disney programming and current run movies.
