Situated in the sunny Algarve, Faro is a favourite with both golfers (there are many good courses in the area) and tourists wanting to relax and chill out on the beach.

The coastline is certainly glorious, but it’s worth taking time to explore the city too. The Museum Arqueologico, partly located in the cloisters of an old convent, is great for exploring the remains of the city walls and houses a fantastic example of a preserved Roman mosaic.

Eat out in the marina or old quarter and don’t forget to taste the local delicacy – sardines - whilst you’re here.
