By Natasha Jervis: Edmonton has parks, a gigantic mall for the kids, entertainment, and art for the adults. Edmonton is on the West side of Canada, and is the capital city of Alberta. If you are really into nature and scenery, try visiting Sherwood Park. This little town is just outside the city boundaries and offers many photo opportunities to a visitor. Nature lovers are also recommended to visit Elk National Park where you will get to see moose, elk and bison.
Be sure to check out the world’s largest shopping mall while you are there, and avoid going at peak times such as Saturday or Sunday. It’s madness! Tourists and locals can find every thing they need at the West Edmonton Mall, and there are a variety of attractions, casinos, mini-golf courses, skating rinks, and arcades. What more could you want in a shopping mall! Whyte Avenue is popular with travelers because of its social scene, numerous bars, and hip clubs. The best time to visit Edmonton is between June and August when it is hot and happening.
Tip: Travelers should try the Edmonton Transit System. It will get you around downtown, to the mall, and Whyte Avenue. You can transfer from bus to bus and see some of the city sights.
Warning: Visitors should stay away from 97th street to 30th street in downtown Edmonton. It is very dangerous area! It has a mix of low income neighborhoods, prostitutes, drug dealers, gangsters, and their pimps. Stay away! Go!
