Dusseldorf blends together old and new. One area is very modern and geared towards business, whereas the Altstadt, or old quarter, features quaint narrow roads and elaborate old townhouses. Recognised as one of Germany’s leading cities for fashion and arts, Dusseldorf annually hosts the largest fashion trade fair and has some very swanky fashion boutiques with all the top names.

A visit to Aldstadt is a must and, as it’s home to over 260 restaurants, bars and cafes, it’s the perfect place for a lazy lunch. Don’t miss St Lambertus church with its crooked spire and take a trip down the river Rhine to see the city from a different perspective. Go!
