By Pam Bruno: Colombo is a busy, colorful city. It is the largest city in Sri Lanka, and yet, there is a lot of greenery in the center of the city, such as Viharamahadevi Park, which overlooks the town hall. There is also a 20-acre lake, Beira Lake, in the middle of town. Besides many of Sri Lankans major corporations, Colombo has many mosques, temples, museums, and a large marketplace. The Galle Face Green, a 10-acre stretch of grassy area near the Indian Ocean, is a popular gathering place for vendors, families, and those who just want to enjoy the beach. Go! |
