By Natasha Jervis: Oahu, also known as the ‘Gathering Place’, is the third largest island in Hawaii. Visitors flock to Oahu every year to enjoy a multicultural and tropical island experience. Many may remember the beaches of Oahu featured in famous television shows such as Magnum P.I, Lost, and Hawaii Five-0. If you are a history nut, you can visit Honolulu and see the Pearl Harbor Memorial Museum. Take a historical walk in Honolulu and visit the Mission House Museum where protestant missionaries worked and settled back in 1820. You can also see the U.S.S Arizona Battleship and pay your respects to the 1,177 men that are entombed to this day. When visiting the North Shore of Oahu, make sure you camp at Malaekahana Beach for a night and enjoy the low tides. You don’t have to bring any gear, because Malaekahana Beach provides tent cabins. This beach is known to be the most beautiful camping spot on the beautiful isle of Oahu. Do you enjoy snorkeling or diving? Then make sure you visit Shark’s Cove on the North Shore where you can explore famous underwater caves. Check out Waikiki Beach in Honolulu and see the Diamond Head Tower which hosts one of the most well known lighthouses in the world. The phrase, ‘take some time to smell the flowers’ applies in Oahu.
