Los Angeles Airfares

The “City of Angels” is known, in part, for its nice weather, causal lifestyle and creative energy.

Los Angeles is commonly called a “melting pot” due to its rich mix of people for all over the world, including many from Asia, Europe, Mexico and Central America. It’s also the movie and television capital of the world, with many historic studios, including Paramount, Universal and Warner Brothers.

Things I'll never forget about visits to LA include the panoramic view atop the Getty Center on a clear day, paying $30 for parking on Sunset Blvd and it being worth it, having my teeth laser whitened at a Los Angeles dentist, getting salsa lessons from a quinceanera dance instructor, renting a beach cruiser on Venice Beach, finding Charles Bukowski's "Hollywood" for $1 at a Long Beach book store and being apart of a live studio audience at CBS Studios and taking a drive up PCH to Gladstone's Seafood Restaurant in Malibu.

JetBlue jets non-stop from Los Angeles to only Boston and New York, while Allegiant flies direct to 13 “smaller-sized” airports, including Des Moines, Monterey and Wichita. LAX's lone international low-fare carrier is Canadian-based WestJet.

To avoid crowds, long lines and expensive parking, try one of five smaller airports within a two-hour drive from LAX; Long Beach (LGB), 24 miles, Burbank (BUR), 30 miles, Orange County (SNA), 41 miles, Ontario (ONT), 55 miles, and San Diego (SAN), 125 miles away. LAX is the fifth busiest airport in the world serving more than 60 million passengers per annum.
