Kauai, Hawaii

By Natasha Jervis: How can one island hold so much beauty? If you are looking for a romantic destination, choose the fabulous isle of Kauai. Soar over the mountains and beaches in a helicopter, or grab a kayak, and go down the Wailua River. If you are an active junky, then take a long hike up the Waimea Canyon and take plenty of photos of the stunning ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific’. Kauai is an island of discovery that calls for people to explore its beautiful beaches, canyons, cliffs, and cascading waterfalls. It is best to rent a car to see the entire island in your visit. If you are looking to party, think again. Kauai is a place for relaxation and the listening to the quiet sound of the ocean. Spring breakers better stick to Cancun. Add a little romance to your night out, and get some Hawaiian musicians to serenade you and your love. If you and your partner or family is craving something wild and adventurous, then try zipping through trees on a zip line, or explore the dry and wet caves of Haena. This island has a spiritual power that you will feel as soon as you step onto its sand. If you are taking the family you might want to visit Salt Pond Beach Park, or catch a hula show at Smith Family Garden Luau. The kids will learn a lot when you take them to the Kokee Natural History Museum, where they can learn all about Kauai’s environment. Fore! If you are an avid golfer, then watch out! Kauai has some of the best golf courses in the world. You might need to be pinched to stop you from dreaming! Visitors love the Poipu Golf course and Kiahuna Gold Club to name a few. These challenging courses are covered with Kiawe patches and lava rocks which adds to the exotic feel and energy of the land. These courses are the favorites of many PGA golf pros such as Robert Trent Jones and Jack Nicklaus who even designed their own courses in Kauai. Get your golf clubs out and tee up!

Tip: Take your binoculars so you can watch whales from your lanai. Absolutely breathtaking! Go!

This little island rocks!
Kauai is in my opinion the most beautiful out of all the islands in Hawaii. First of all, it's very green and lush. There's Poipu beach on the south side of the island. It was voted most family friendly beach in the world by Travel Channel. It really is awesome for kids. The north side is home to Princeville and Hanalei Bay. Absolutely gorgeous. In Hawaii most of the rain is in the windward side (north and east). The leeward side (south and west) gets much less rain. This is true in all the islands of Hawaii. Don't mind the rain. It comes and goes very quick and it's actually very warm when it rains. My 5 year old daughter and I were swimming in the ocean while it was raining and we weren't cold at all. We were there in August and it can get quite warm. Near 90 degrees F but it can get quite humid. Definitely check out Waimea Canyon. They call it the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Gorgeous, I've been to Grand Canyon and this is much better. Very green with waterfalls.
