Have you ever seen over 700 hot air balloons up in the sky all at once? If you have, then you probably have visited Albuquerque, New Mexico in October for the International Hot Air Balloon Festival. Starting out with 13 balloons in 1972, the festival now has many events, including the Special Shape Rodeo, with balloons of many original and different shapes. From the air to the ground, landing in Taos, be sure to hit the slopes if you are a skier. Stay in one of the lodges of the region. And then, take in the cultural richness that is an integral part of Taos. The Pueblo people have been living there for over 1000 years, the Spanish about 400 years, and those of English background about 200 years, so there is a rich history to the area. And the way the sunlight reflects the natural beauty of the town, this has inspired breathtaking art as a part of the lives of the inhabitants of Taos. Go!
