Atlanta, the present capital and the largest city in Georgia today, was a major center for the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. It is the birthplace and final resting place of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and his birth home is a National Historic Site. “Hotlanta” is also home to Underground Atlanta (a historic collection of shops and clubs), the Atlanta Opera, the world’s largest aquarium, and the Woodruff Arts Center, which includes the Alliance Theater, the Atlanta Symphony, and the High Museum of Art.
