Detroit The impression that this place had on me was, depression. Now I know why many of Detroit's natives get so defensive when their city is criticized - it's not a very attractive place. It's many empty storefronts and gutted out buildings reminded me of a ghost town, whose golden auto industry went bust.
Detroit is a harsh reminder of how important "Buying American" is to this region's economy. It made think about how this came to be and where the US automakers went wrong in the past. I blame their unaesthetic, inefficient car designs that started in the 70's that opened the door for foreign competition like Toyota and Datsun (Nissan). But hey, maybe competition is a good thing. D-Town Had a good time on Monroe Street in Greektown. It's probably the best night spot in downtown, or all of Detroit for that matter. By iCheapAirfares User
