 By Natasha Jervis: Known as the ‘Mile High City’, Denver is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Visitors flock from all parts of the world to see its majestic views of the rocky peaks. Small amounts of gold were discovered in 1858 and people came from all over to get a piece of the fortune. Even though there wasn’t that much gold to be discovered, silver was found in the mountains and kept the city alive as a mineral foundation. Tourists love to get out into the great outdoors, rather than sitting on tour buses and circling the streets. Lions, and tigers and bears! Oh my! Animal lovers can check out the Denver Zoological Gardens where you can see anything from a Zebu to Skinks, and Lions. Know when to go! The city can be over crowded at times in the summer and many attractions are closed on Mondays. Are you a coin collector? Then go check out the US Mint where you can see a variety of collective coins and medals. Nature lovers can visit 23 acres of land covered with flourishing grasses, trees, plants and flowers at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Take your umbrella and comfy walking shoes! This city is spread out and has a lot of rain at times, so unless you want to look like a wet dog - be prepared! Go!
