By Natasha Jervis: Jump on a ferry or plane and visit Block Island located just 12 miles off the Rhode Island coast. Activity junkies will love the nature trails, horseback riding, parasailing and moped riding. There isn’t a need for a vehicle on this beautiful island for you can get everywhere on foot. If you’re into historical landmarks then visit the Mohegan Bluffs and the South East Lighthouse that has been around since 1874. They built this lighthouse after dozens of vessels went down around the bluffs back in the 1870’s. Breakfast lover? Enjoy breakfast anytime at the Harbor Grill or get your groove on at Captain Nick’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Bar! If you’re a shopaholic, you might not find everything you want on this island, but you’ll enjoy the cozy Block Island shops such as the Peppered Cat and the Salty Dog. Meow! Go!
