Baton Rouge,
Louisiana
By Natasha Jervis: Louisiana’s vibrant and eccentric culture can best be represented by the city of Baton Rouge. This city was discovered by French explorers in 1699. Today, it’s the fifth largest port of call in the United States. Located along the Mississippi River, this “college town” is thriving with a variety of cultures, lively music, and unique food. Hungry? Try some taste bud tingling Italian food at DI Guilio Brothers or Greek cuisine at Albasha Greek & Lebanese Restaurant. Opa! Even though Mark Twain stated that the Old State Capitol is the, “ugliest thing on the Mississipi”, architect lovers will love the spiraling staircase and stained glass dome. Head to the Blue Bayou Water Park on a hot day and let the kids enjoy the wave pool, slides and raft rides! Adults are allowed as well, don’t worry! Go!
