By iCheapAirfares Staff: Cebu is the “Queen City of South.” Visitors to this amazing part of the Philippines will find cultural, historical, religious and natural attractions. The people of Cebu are proud of their rich history and are anxious to share it with others.
Some of the more popular attractions in Cebu center on Ferdinand Magellan. In 1521, Magellan planted a cross where the first Filipinos were baptized. The cross still stands today. In addition to the cross, there is a marker that was erected in 1866 that marks the place of Magellan’s death. The culture of Cebu is very Christian and their religious sites are important to them.
Cultural attractions include a variety of museums that showcase Cebu’s history. Traditional art, artifacts and antiques are all proudly displayed throughout Cebu’s many museums.
Cebu is, of course, an island, and so there are many natural attractions. Resorts along the beautiful beaches attract sun worshippers. Coral reefs along the island are the perfect destination for snorkelers, scuba divers, and adventuresome divers.
Dining, theaters, bars and night clubs attract tourists in the evening and make Cebu an adventure from sunrise to long after sunset. Go!
