Canada Overview

Canada, the second largest country in the world, is a sparsely populated land of diverse landscapes, cultures, languages and people.
The northern Arctic region of Canada, now encompassing the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and the Yukon, was the first area of Canada to be inhabited by migrants from Siberia between five and ten thousand years ago.
On Canada’s eastern seaboard, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, you can go whale spotting at Digby Neck in Nova Scotia, relax on the red sand beaches of Prince Edward Island, or visit small ports and fishing villages.
Québec, Canada’s French-speaking province, retains much of the character of its colonial past, especially in Québec City.
Ontario is home to Toronto, Ottawa and Niagara Falls as well as vast open spaces such as the Algonquin Provincial Park and the Muskoka Lakes.
In the center of Canada are the prairies of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Travel north to Churchill, Manitoba, in October or November, to watch polar bears framed by the northern lights (Aurora Borealis) in the evening sky.
In Canada’s western region of Alberta and British Colombia, you can experience the beauty and solitude of the Rocky Mountains, visit the modern city of Vancouver, or ski in the resorts of Whistler and Blackcomb. Go!
