In the Bull Temple, a huge monolith of the sacred bull of Nandi, carved in 1786, is looked after by Hindu priests, who apply coconut oil to the bull’s coat to moisten the stone.
Reminders of British colonial influences include Bangalore Palace, built by an Indian Maharaja in 1880 and modeled on Windsor Castle in England, and Cubbon Park, established by Lord Cubbon in 1864.
