It is commonly referred to as one of the ABC Islands because of its close proximity to Bonaire and Curacao. It was first colonized by the Dutch in 1636 and today is self-governing member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

As with many of the islands in the Caribbean Sea, tourism is the biggest industry in Aruba for several reasons. It has consistently sunny, warm weather with a steady tradewind breeze. This rather small, 100+ square mile island, also has several tempting gambling opportunities including the Casablanca Casino and Copacabana Casino to go with duty-free shopping to splurge on with your winnings. The landscape of Aruba resembles a desert, with cacti and aloe vera plants sprinkled throughout the island. There aren’t any notable natural attractions such as tall waterfalls or lush jungles.
