Aruba is an island located in the south Caribbean just 15 miles north of Venezuela. It is commonly referred to as one of the ABC Islands because of its close proximity to Bonaire and Curacao.

It was first colonized by the Dutch in 1636 and today is self-governing member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. As with many of the islands in the Caribbean Sea, tourism is the biggest industry in Aruba for several reasons.

The landscape of Aruba resembles a desert, with cacti and aloe vera plants sprinkled throughout the island. There aren’t any notable natural attractions such as tall waterfalls or lush jungles. However, Aruba does have miles of white sandy beaches and the biggest natural attraction in the region, the Caribbean Sea.
