By iCheapAirfares Staff: Argentina is a country of passionate dance, delicious meat dishes, a cosmopolitan capital city, and even some penguins. First explored by Europeans in the early 1500s, it gained its independence from Spain in 1816. It’s European colonial influence is still evident today in many of it's towns and cities.
Argentina has a great deal of natural attractions as well. Iguazu Falls are the second largest waterfalls in the world behind Africa’s Victoria Falls. There are almost 300 breathtaking waterfalls in its vicinity. Located along the western border with Chile is the historically significant Andes mountain range which stretches all the way up to Venezuela. Along the Patagonian coast, large amounts of Magellanic penguins can be seen habitating.
This country of 35 million people, located in southern South America, is currently a relatively cheap place to visit, due in part to some recent economic troubles. Go!
